About
New Bombay Karate Club

Karate employs a colored belt system to signify a practitioner’s rank and level of proficiency. The system typically progresses from white (beginner) to black (advanced), with various colored belts representing different levels of expertise in between.

About Me

Karate is a traditional martial art that originated in Okinawa, Japan, and has evolved into a widely practiced form of self-defense, sport, and physical fitness. The word “karate” itself is a combination of two Japanese characters: “kara” meaning “empty,” and “te” meaning “hand.” Therefore, karate can be translated as “empty hand,” emphasizing its focus on unarmed techniques.

Karate has various styles, with Shotokan being some of the most prominent. Each style may have its unique characteristics, katas, and training methodologies, but they all share a common foundation in the principles of karate.
